Profile

Rafael Taboryski (RT) was born in 1963. RT is associate professor and head of Studies for the MSc. Eng. programme in Physics and Nanotechnology. RT is employed at  DTU Nanolab, National Centre for Nano Fabrication and Characterization, where he teaches physics and nanotechnology. RT's research interests are in t the development of metamaterials, i.e. functional properties of nanostructured surfaces, RT graduated in Physics from the University of Copenhagen (KU) and acquired his PhD degree in 1992 also from KU. RT’s employment record comprises the University of Cambridge as Postdoc, Danish Fundamental Metrology as Staff Scientist and at Sophion Bioscience A / S, where he headed the development of the company's biochip. At KU and in Cambridge RT’s research was concerned with the study of electronic quantum effects in micro-structured semiconducting and superconducting devices. RT's current research focuses on developing methods for micro-and nanostructuring of polymer and other materials surfaces, fabrication of microfluidic chips, and structure functionality relationsships for enhanced wetting and optical properties such as anti-fogging, self-cleaning, anti-reflection and plasmonic properties.
