Experienced Community Manager

DTU Skylab

DTU Skylab is looking for a passionate and innovative soul to help our community evolve. We believe that a strong community will help foster tech innovation and entrepreneurship to the benefit of society. Our community already consists of a great mix of daily users (entrepreneurs, students, and researchers) and external collaborators (companies, VC’s, NGO’s, Universities etc). You will work with community strategy, community operations as well as community engagement.

Who are we
DTU Skylab is the innovation hub of DTU. We are a vibrant community supporting diverse activities such as curricular courses, company collaborations, and startup support programs. In the 9 years that DTU Skylab has existed, it has become a dynamic innovation hub with 5000 m2 of offices, teaching facilities, workshops, and laboratories.

DTU Skylab is both an innovation environment with startups and company collaborations, and an ambitious learning environment where we train skilled engineers with a desire to make a difference in the world.

What you tell your friends you do at DTU Skylab
“I’m the one reaching out to our users and collaborators and engaging in conversations with them about our offers, collaboration and network to help make sure they thrive and make each other learn and grow”.

This means that you will:

  • Work closely with the management group to devise and execute a strategy for managing and growing a hybrid community of DTU Skylab users and collaborators involving and activating all parts of our eco-system.
  • Explore and track needs of our users and collaborators, and the success that occurs.
  • Engage our members to participate in our ecosystem and activities
  • Plan and run inspirational, open-spirited, and fun community events as well as events related to our programs.
  • Encourage and support community driven networks, activities, and events
  • Introduce new members to the community and making sure they feel at home, including hosting inspirational tours of Skylab to our many visitors
  • Creating, fostering, and maintaining people relations on all levels – getting to know the users and their needs. Connecting people, seeing the opportunities, and following up.

You are:

  • An experienced Community Manager (minimum 5 years of experience as a Community Manager or a similar role)
  • An enthusiastic community builder and connector, also for virtual communities. You are great at connecting (with) people and you can find the common ground with everyone and make them feel welcome and included. You understand their struggles and can connect them with peers, advisors, and the ecosystem.
  • A great written and verbal communicator with fluent English and preferably a working knowledge of Danish.
  • Someone with an extraordinary outgoing personality and with positive and energic vibes.
  • Ideally experienced within the innovation scene. You have perhaps worked with innovation and entrepreneurship communities before, understand the challenges and speak the language.
  • Self-driven, have a positive attitude and can work alone or as part of a team.
  • Enthusiastic about tech innovation and are ready to join us on our mission to develop Technology for people.

As sustainability is an integral part of our activities and programs at DTU and DTU Skylab, we also hope you are passionate about making a positive impact in society through your position.
