Broad lab responsibility across methods, projects, procedures and equipment
Your mission is to assist a Post Doc and an Analytical Chemist at our state-of-the-art lab at DTU Biosustain in Lyngby. We are working to develop new analytical platforms to help the researchers at our center and abroad solve the most challenging problems in biology. You will get the opportunity to develop your skills at the very forefront of new lab methods and technologies and expand your knowledge considerately within synthetic biology. You will assist within:

  • Automated methods for polar and non-polar sample extraction for metabolomics
  • Methods for C13/N15 metabolic labeling for high resolution flux analysis
  • Methods for rapid and high throughput polar and non-polar metabolite quantification by LC-MS/MS
  • Methods for rapid and high throughput polar isotope distributions by LC-MS/MS and GC-MS
  • Preparation of standard mixes and calibration curves for quantitative metabolomics
  • Preparation of reagents including mobile phases and autosampler needle washing fluids
  • Handling of our log for all instrument maintenance schedules
  • Standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other protocols related to the analytical platform
  • Ordering of reagents and labware and maintenance of the related inventory

Some of your tasks will be assisted by the use of liquid handling robots that will be setup by our automation team.


Experience in analytical chemistry and in metabolomics and fluxomics applications
We are looking for a colleague with the same collaborative and open mindset that is a trademark for our group. As your primary objective is to provide critical support for our more senior staff, you must be willing to help out with and to handle a broad spectrum of tasks with the same dedication and attention to detail. We expect that you are eager to learn new things, to develop your skills, and are motivated to be a part of a multidisciplinary and multicultural team. Added to this, your CV comprises:

  • A degree in analytical chemistry, biology, biochemistry, bioengineering or similar
  • Experience in analytical chemistry, and in particular metabolomics and fluxomics applications
  • Basic understanding of typical analytical chemistry data processing and basic statistical analysis tasks
  • Interest in working with script based programming (e.g. Python)

Salary and terms of employment
Your new workplace is the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability (CFB) at Building 220, Kemitorvet, 2800 Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark.


The appointment will be based on the collective agreement between the Union of Commercial and Clerical Employees in Denmark (HK) and laboratory technicians at DTU.
