Required documents when you apply for an MSc programme at DTU

Autumn 2026

Important Information for Applicants

To help you prepare a strong application, here’s what you need to know about DTU's admission process from Autumn 2026 onwards:

  • DTU now uses a point-based system and selection criteria to evaluate applications.
  • Before you start, make sure you understand the process for your chosen programme. You can find these details under Programme specifications → Academic Requirements → Limited Intake and Selection Criteria.

 

How to Ensure a Smooth Application Process

To make sure your application is assessed fairly and without delays, please follow these steps:

✅ Understand the selection criteria for your programme.

✅ Review all document requirements before you begin.

✅ Upload the required document accurately and completely when you submit your application.

⚠️ Incomplete or incorrect submissions may affect your assessment.

💡 Tip: Preparing your documents in advance will help you submit a strong and complete application.

 

Checklist: Required Documents

  1. Bachelor Academic Documents
    • Completed Bachelor: Certified Diploma + Certified Academic Transcripts (officially translated into English either from the University or from an authorized translator)
    • Ongoing Bachelor: Certified Academic Transcripts (officially translated into English either from the University or from an authorized translator)

    If you are a current or former student at a Danish university, you can obtain a transcript of records via the digital application system in connection with the application.

  2. CV / Resume
  3. DTU’s Mandatory Template – Fill it completely and accurately.  
  4. Course Descriptions for relevant courses
    • Provide an official online link in the template (if in English) OR
    • Submit the official online link + English translation (you can translate it yourself) in a single PDF.
  5. Two Recommendation Letters – Only for Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Design & Innovation, Engineering Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, Sustainable Energy Technologies
  6. Language Test Results

 

Optional Documents, if applicable (can positively influence your application)

  1. Study-related work experience (single PDF)
  2. Research, internship, or publications (single PDF)
  3. GRE Test Scores
    • No minimum requirement, but competitive scores are:
    • 320 combined (Verbal + Quantitative)
    • 4.0 in Analytical Writing

     

Additional Documents, if applicable 

 

 

Spring 2026

You must upload the documents below in the digital application form. You must also check the website to verify whether there are special documentation requirements. For more information, see under the admission requirements for the programme in question.

  • Exam certificate/diploma or transcript of grades
    All exam certificates, diplomas, and transcripts of grades must be official.    
    If you are a current or former student at a Danish university, you can obtain a transcript of records via the digital application system in connection with the application.

  • If relevant: pre-mapping

  • If you apply for Technology Entrepreneurship, please upload CV

  • Documentation for compliance with DTU’s language requirements

  • Any other relevant documentation or information you find is of importance to the assessment of your application

    For example email correspondence with the head of studies.

  • If you are not an EU/EEA citizen: Your valid residence permit must be uploaded for profile validation.
