Before Christmas, the Board of Governors approved DTU’s new strategy. It has been developed based on thorough preparatory work, with all employees contributing proposals for key strategic themes, and with input from collegial bodies, advisory panels, the Board of Representatives, and other stakeholders. The Board has compiled these numerous contributions into a strategy that looks ahead, with a strong foundation in the Ørsted legacy.
“I am very pleased with the new strategy. A big thank you to the Board and to all employees who have contributed thoughtful and engaged input,” says President Anders Bjarklev.
“It is an ambitious and timely strategy. It prepares DTU for a future in a changing world, where we must use our position as one of Europe’s strongest technical universities to take responsibility for Europe’s technological future, sustainability and innovation, and not least to strengthen science as an indispensable foundation for democracy.”
Five strategic focus areas
Strategy 2026–2031 presents five strategic focus areas that will set the direction for DTU in the years ahead:
- Sustainable technological transition
- European leadership in critical technologies
- Educating Europe’s most competent engineers
- From knowledge to business
- Scientific leadership and democratic responsibility
These focus areas build on the work DTU already does very well – and will aim to do even better in the coming years.
The President goes on tour: “The strategy must be put into practice”
The strategy is a tool. A compass that sets direction and influences how all employees carry out their work, and it must now be implemented across the organisation. For this reason, the President will be visiting all units in the coming months:
“I will be touring DTU to present the strategy across the university. I hope for productive discussions and valuable input on how we can implement the strategy effectively and apply it actively in our daily work. I am very much looking forward to it.”
