Dimitrios Papageorgiou is Associate Professor of Nonlinear and Fault-Tolerant and Control at DTU Electrical and Photonics Engineering, Automation and Control group. His research interests focus in nonlinear, adaptive and sliding-mode control for electromechanical systems, as well as in estimation methods for fault diagnosis and system monitoring. The application fields for his research range from industrial manufacturing floors and wind turbine systems to marine vessels and unmanned vehicles. He received his PhD in Automation and Control from DTU in 2017, in which he focused on high-accuracy nonlinear control for machine-tool applications. The project was in close collaboration with Siemens AG, Advanced Technologies and extended into a postdoctoral scholarship for investigating easy commissioning of machine tools and auto-tuning. Currently he is actively involved in several research projects in the area of autonomous seamanship, supervisory control of autonomous vessels and learning-based ship parameter estimation. In parallel, he pursues research related to the applicability and assessment of advanced control and estimation techniques for high-reliability operation of wind turbines.
