Strength and Dynamics of Structures - Focus area
The following study plan assumes start of study in September, such that 1. semester is fall, 2. semester is spring, 3. semester is fall and the thesis work is carried out in spring. It includes only one spring semester of courses.
The study plan is not mandatory but is a recommended study plan that fulfills the requirements. All other study plans also have to fulfill the requirements, including maximum 2 years of study for obtaining 120 ECTS.
The basic principle of the discipline is a good understanding of physical relations and an interest in mathematical modelling. Computer simulations based on extensive use of applied mathematics and experimental methods are important aspects. The teaching activities provide the students with the proper qualifications to carry out analyses of strength, vibration, and stability as well as dimensioning of products ranging from micro components to machines, e.g., offshore rigs.
