1 October marks the launch date of the second issue of DTU's international magazine, Technologist.
Using the slogan ‘Innovation explained’, Technologist is the magazine which presents the latest research and innovation, while also explaining it and putting it into perspective. It is the magazine that puts current trends within technology and natural sciences under the microscope.
In this issue, the magazine, among other things, focuses on the maker movement, where young 'DIYs' take advantage of cheap computers and components to develop revolutionary systems and products that in terms of ingenuity and efficiency are often capable of competing with the large producers. One example is Danish Adam Hartmann who in the start-up Eupry has developed a system for monitoring refrigerated vaccines. A simple system which is useful in areas with unstable power supply, for example.
Invisibility—or how you can see the invisible—is another theme in this issue, covering the latest developments within, e.g., hyperspectral imaging and infrared lasers capable of detecting diseases by analysing exhaled air.
Technologist also has a website featuring daily new posts from the world of science and technology together with selected articles from the printed magazine. You can also follow the magazine on both Facebook and Twitter.
