The network for former DTU students celebrated its tenth anniversary in January. Kaj Juul-Pedersen was named honorary alumnus of the year.
2015 marks the tenth anniversary of the foundation of DTU Alumni, and this milestone was celebrated at the annual New Year’s reception on 29 January. DTU Alumni is an association for former DTU students and other people with links to the university. The alumni network was established in 2004, and currently numbers more than 20,000 members in 78 countries around the world.
Honorary alumnus 2015
Every year, one of the members is named honorary alumnus. This title is awarded to a member who has made an outstanding contribution to his/her professional field, and who has displayed particular commitment and loyalty to the University.
This year’s award went to Kaj Juul-Pedersen, the 56-year-old President of Sitella, and the justification from the jury stated:
“Kaj Juul-Pedersen has been named DTU’s honorary alumnus in 2015 because throughout his career he has succeeded in combining his remarkable skills as an engineer and his ability to create networks with an unswervingly constructive love of DTU as his alma mater. He has quite simply lived the values that DTU and DTU Alumni stand for.”
The words are a fitting tribute to Kaj Juul-Pedersen’s commitment to DTU. For example, he serves as external examiner in telecoms technology and is a member of the DTU Board of Representatives. He was awarded DTU’s gold medal in 2007.
In addition to naming the honorary alumnus and celebrating of the tenth anniversary, the occasion was used to recognize the alumni who have served as mentors since the network was established.
