Professor Christensen is currently Research Lead (RL) in research field 5 (RF5): Climate Resilient and Adaptive Infrastructure. RF5 is a part of the research programme Civil Engineering and the Green Transition in the Built Environment (CEBE), cebe.dk, which is funded by the Villum Foundation. Additionally, he has been involved in several research programs funded by Danish and European agencies, such as SASME, DELOS, Safe Offload, SBWI (as Initiator and Scientific lead), SDWED, FIELD_AC, FMK, MSBWI, MERMAID (as Coordinator), ULTFARMS, INF4INITY. The main subjects of his research and projects include analyses of breaking waves, flow around offshore and coastal structures, sediment transport, shoreline development, analyses of moored ships in harbours and in the open sea, and wave loads on large structures such as offshore wind turbine foundations.
