Kresten Yvind’s research activities focus on optical semiconductor components, including theory, fabrication, testing, and applications. He has established facilities at DTU and procedures for the production of so-called III-V semiconductors (GaAs, InP, and the alloys InAlGaAsP) in collaboration with DTU-Danchip (now DTU Nanolab). His special interests include (nonlinear) photonic integrated circuits (optical chips) and advanced (e.g., pulsed or MEMS-tunable) lasers. These are used in telecommunications, medical diagnostics (www.octlight.com), and in sensors. He teaches semiconductor physics, electro-optical materials and lasers (course 34034), photonic integrated circuits (course 34062), and advanced photonic components (course 34091, PhD level).
