Carbon Capture

CO2 must be a resource instead of a problem

The new large-scale research initiative from the partnership INNO-CCUS will contribute to the ambitious Danish climate goals. The partnership will ensure efficient carbon capture and storage, and the development of methods for reutilization of CO2 as building blocks for new materials.

Carbon capture, storage, and utilization are done by capturing CO2 from the smoke from industries such as CHP plants. After CO2 has been through a number of chemical processes, it can be used either to produce chemicals or green fuels, or it can be stored deep down underground or below the sea.

Carbon storage entails that CO2 in liquid form is pumped down into the porous layers of the subsoil, while the clay layer above acts as a seal.
