On Tuesday this week, President Anders Bjarklev and Chair of the Board Margrethe Vestager met with former Prime Minister Poul Nyrup Rasmussen and Søren Sass, who is the administrator of Lone Dybkjær Fonden.
They were there to discuss a potential collaboration between DTU, Lone Dybkjær Fonden and the Asian University for Women, which educates women from some of the world’s most vulnerable communities and which, in 2026, will launch a new degree programme entitled Chemical and Environmental Engineering for Climate Resilience.
The programme has been developed in collaboration with, among others, Imperial College London and is supported by the Danish Embassy in Bangladesh. At the meeting, they discussed how DTU can contribute academic expertise and guidance to this particular programme.
The details of the collaboration are still in progress, but President Anders Bjarklev is enthusiastic.
“Sharing knowledge, working together and benefiting society – that’s DTU’s DNA. And that’s why we are keen to collaborate with Lone Dybkjær Fonden and the Asian University for Women on giving Asian women the very best opportunities, education-wise,” he says.
The meeting took place at DTU Sustain and concluded with a tour, during which Professor Anders Baun and Professor Charlotte Scheutz presented their research and explained how this could be incorporated into the Chemical and Environmental Engineering for Climate Resilience programme.
Anders Baun’s presentation focused on PFAS and solar cells, reducing harmful persistent chemicals in the environment, and thereby also ensuring cleaner drinking water, whilst Charlotte Scheutz focused on better waste recycling and the effective reduction of the greenhouse gas methane in both agriculture and the waste management sector.
