The Danish Ministry of Environment and Food will tender out veterinary advice

The Danish Ministry of Environment and Food will issue invitations to tender for veterinary advice tasks as from 2020 and onwards.

The Ministry of Environment and Food of Denmark has a framework agreement with DTU on scientific advice. The agreement comprises a subagreement within the veterinary field, which among other things covers veterinary laboratory emergency preparedness in connection with outbreaks of serious livestock diseases. The agreement in the veterinary field, which has a total annual value of approx. EUR 14 million, finances scientific advice as well as laboratory capacity for emergency preparedness use.

For a while, the parties have been discussing the financial framework for performing the tasks. Despite mutual satisfaction with the collaboration and the task performance, the Ministry has decided to invite tenders for the subagreement in the veterinary field to achieve balance between tasks and financing going forward. DTU accepts this decision.

The Ministry will issue invitations to tender regarding this task from 2020 and onwards. The Ministry will obtain tenders from the Danish universities which are deemed to have the relevant competences and which will be able to offer future scientific advice within the field, including DTU.

The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration will be responsible for the practical organization of the process. A new agreement is expected to be in place when the current framework agreement expires at the end of 2019.
