Layout of Denmark’s biggest playground for entrepreneurs

DTU Skylab is for anyone interested in working with innovation and entrepreneurship.

At DTU Skylab you can convert knowledge into practical innovation projects in collaboration with businesses, design own prototypes or begin the process of creating a start-up company.

Regardless of starting point and motivation, DTU Skylab is geared to helping students with advice and consultancy on prototyping, business plans, and innovation processes.

Auditorium
Equipped with state-of-the-art AV equipment, robot cameras and huge transmission projectors, the auditorium is available for lectures, presentations and events. Although the auditorium was built to seat approximately 120, as many as 300 people can follow your event when the large glass façades remain open.

Metal workshop
CNC machines perform advanced milling and lathe tasks in metal and steel, while a robot arm mills polystyrene or foam mock-ups in dimensions of up to two by three metres. We also have a range of manual machines with cutting tools that can drill, turn and mill a wide range of materials, including Teflon, copper, acid-proof stainless steel, aluminium and tool steel, Delrin, etc.

Welding shop
The welding shop has T. I. G/M. I. G. for welding aluminium, steel and stainless steel. A wide selection of hand tools is also available.

Open workplaces
Find an open workstation and go online.

Lounge
Drink a cup of coffee, play table football or expand your network in the lounge.

Woodworking workshop
Cut profiles in sheets with a large vertical band saw or use upright drill press and a circular saw plane. Work in materials such as MDF sheets, plywood and various laths and other types of mouldings.

Rapid prototyping
When time is of the essence, this is where you can manufacture prototypes using a laser cutter specifically designed for acrylic and wood. We also have a powder-based 3D blueprinter and two 3D filament printers.

Electronics workshop
A soldering iron, oscilloscope, multimeter and a broad range of components are available. Work, for example, with Arduino programming, which is an open-source electronics platform based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software that makes it easy to develop prototypes.

Laboratory
DTU Skylab is open to all students, regardless of their field of study. In the laboratory, students primarily from study programmes  where they have the opportunity to work with liquids can work on their own innovation projects or on collaborative, business-related projects.

Main entrance
DTU Skylab is open 24/7 to students holding a valid student card. The workshops, however, close at 6.00 pm on weekdays (at 4.00 pm on Fridays).
