Research talents from DTU receive prestigious grants from the Villum Foundation
Bjarke Sørensen Jessen and Simone Latini, both from DTU Physics, have received grants from the Villum Foundation's Young Investigator Programme to build a research team and contribute with excellent research.

19 promising researchers receive grants totalling DKK 150 million from the Villum Foundation's Young Investigator Programme. Villum Young Investigators is given to researchers at the beginning of their careers to pursue the ideas they are most passionate about and build their own research groups.
Postdoc Bjarke Sørensen Jessen receives DKK 9 million for the project ”DynamiQ - Dynamic Control of Engineered Quantum Phases”.
Tenure Track Assistant Professor Simone Latini receives DKK 7 million for the project ”Quantum Light-Matter Hybrids via Spatially Designed Photons”.
The Villum Young Investigator programme focuses on attracting and retaining talented young Danish and foreign researchers at Danish universities. The aim is to support the universities' development of high-level international research environments.
The programme is announced once a year in an open competition with an application deadline in June. In 2024, three DTU researchers received YIP.
In 2021, the programme has been supplemented with a so-called additional grant called YIP+, which will ensure a stable research career for the most talented Villum Young Investigators.
