Three DTU researchers among the first recipients of Villum Ascending Investigator grants

Andreas Laustsen-Kiel and Jane Wittrup Agger from DTU Bioengineering, along with Søren Stobbe from DTU Elektro, have each been awarded a grant from the Villum Foundation.

The Villum Foundation has awarded DKK 162 million to nine researchers through the new Villum Ascending Investigator program. The program is targeted at researchers who have already distinguished themselves within their fields and for whom a larger grant can facilitate the next step in their research careers.

Among the recipients are three researchers from DTU, each receiving DKK 18.2 million for their projects:

Professor Andreas Laustsen-Kiel, DTU Bioengineering, receives the grant for the project ’PROTÆCT: Precision Regulation Of Toxin Activity through Environmentally-Controlled Targeting’.

Professor Søren Stobbe, DTU Elektro, receives the grant for the project ’Hypersonic Nanomechanics – HYPER’.

Associate Professor Jane Wittrup Agger, DTU Bioengineering, receives the grant for the project ’Enzymatic lignin transformation and engineering’.

The grants provide the researchers with the time and space to test ideas that require a long-term perspective and specialized expertise.
