Jan Karlshøj has more than 20 years of experience in consulting engineering and has been involved in research, development, and implementation activities related to interoperability — enabling seamless digital information exchange with a high level of semantic content. He has professional experience in the structural design of office buildings and cultural institutions. Jan has participated in and led research and development projects within digital construction, including studies of the economic benefits of IT in the construction sector and the development of sustainable solutions based on Building Information Modelling (BIM), at Danish, Nordic, and international levels. He has participated in and led international ISO standardisation activities and has contributed to the development of buildingSMART standards, several of which have subsequently been adopted as ISO and CEN standards.
