Productivity and wellbeing AI Social capital Healthcare organizaton Organizational change

Organizations should not have to choose between productivity and wellbeing. My research is driven by a simple idea: It is possible to create workplaces that are both highly productive and healthy places to work, and I develop interventions, tools, and scientific methods that help organizations achieve both. I am Associate Professor at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), where my research focuses on the design, implementation, and evaluation of organizational interventions. My work explores how organizations can improve performance, productivity, and quality while simultaneously supporting employee wellbeing and sustainable working conditions. A central theme in my research is bridging the gap between organizational theory and practice. I am particularly interested in how interventions can be designed to create meaningful and measurable change in complex organizational settings. My research spans methodological development, intervention design, implementation processes, and evaluation, with a strong emphasis on generating knowledge that is both scientifically rigorous and practically useful. I work across a range of sectors, including healthcare, public administration, and private industry. My research often employs longitudinal and mixed-method approaches, combining qualitative and quantitative data to understand how interventions evolve over time and how contextual factors influence their outcomes. I am co-author of the Sigtuna Principles, a set of design principles for organizational interventions that emphasize stakeholder involvement, adaptability, contextual sensitivity, and measurable outcomes. The principles have contributed to discussions on how intervention research can better balance scientific rigor with practical relevance. More recently, my research has expanded to include hybrid work environments, organizational responses to generative artificial intelligence (AI), and the implications of digital technologies for management, work design, productivity, and employee wellbeing. I chair the Nordic Network for Research on Work Environment, Quality and Productivity in Healthcare, which brings together researchers and practitioners from across the Nordic countries to support the development of healthier, more effective, and sustainable healthcare systems. I also serve on international editorial boards and contribute to the evaluation of research funding applications and academic publications. I regularly present my research at international conferences and industry events on topics including organizational interventions, implementation processes, hybrid work, workplace wellbeing, healthcare productivity, performance management, and responsible AI.Positions and AffiliationsChair, Nordic Network for Research on Work Environment, Quality and Productivity in HealthcareEditorial Board Member, Scandinavian Journal of Work PsychologyEditorial Board Member, International Journal of Workplace Health ManagementAffiliated Researcher, University of Massachusetts Lowell, USAAffiliated with the Center for the Promotion of Health in the New England Workplace (CPH-NEW)Former Chair, Nordic Ergonomics SocietyHead of Studies, DTU Business (2017–2020)Research InterestsOrganizational intervention design, implementation, and evaluationIntervention methodologies and research methodsOrganizational change and implementation processesProductivity, quality, and employee wellbeingHybrid work and new forms of work organizationArtificial intelligence and digital technologies in organizationsHealthcare systems, work environment, and organizational performanceSocial capital, collaboration, and workplace relationsLongitudinal and mixed-method researchInnovation in organizational practices and work design
