Dr. Lissy Langer is a researcher in the Society, Market and Policy Section at DTU Wind and Energy Systems. Her research focuses on the interaction between energy markets, climate policy, sustainability accounting, and the decarbonization of hard-to-abate sectors. Her work combines macro-energy system modelling, operations research, and environmental accounting to assess the effectiveness of energy and climate policies. A central focus of her research is understanding how regulations, carbon accounting frameworks, and market design influence investment decisions and real-world greenhouse gas emissions. She has worked extensively on hydrogen regulation, renewable electricity procurement, Power-to-X systems, and the emissions impacts of corporate and governmental climate strategies. Lissy currently contributes to the development of international carbon accounting standards as an invited member of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Scope 2 Technical Working Group. Her recent research examines the environmental integrity of renewable electricity purchasing instruments, voluntary renewable energy certificates, and electricity procurement requirements for renewable hydrogen production. Before joining DTU Wind and Energy Systems, she was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at DTU, where she investigated the emissions impacts of European hydrogen policies and regulations. She holds a PhD with distinction from Technische Universität Berlin, where her research focused on smart energy management systems, optimization under uncertainty, and machine learning applications in the energy transition. Her interdisciplinary background spans economics, engineering, operations research, sustainability, and public policy. She is particularly interested in evidence-based policy design that can accelerate decarbonization while ensuring transparent and credible climate accounting.
