Rolf Nordahl works with extended reality (XR), virtual reality (VR), multisensory technologies, user experience, and applied digital systems, with a particular focus on healthcare, learning, and simulation. His research examines how immersive and interactive technologies can move from technical prototypes to meaningful use in real contexts, where users, organisations, workflows, and practical constraints all matter. At DTU Engineering Technology, Rolf Nordahl contributes to teaching, course development, laboratory development, and externally funded XR-related research. He is also co-head of the Multisensory Experience Lab at DTU Ballerup, which supports research, development, prototyping, evaluation, and application of XR and multisensory technologies. This work builds on more than two decades of research in presence, immersion, multimodal interaction, sound, haptics, and human perception. Rolf Nordahl is frequently invited as an expert commentator and interview source in Danish media on virtual reality, extended reality, immersive technologies, the metaverse, digital media, and VR/XR in healthcare, learning, culture, and everyday life. He has contributed to major Danish media and professional outlets, including DR, DR P1, DR Ultra, Politiken, Ingeniøren, Børsen, TV 2, and Videnskab.dk. He has also given keynote presentations and invited talks for professional and public audiences, including at Yale University and Kyoto Institute of Technology. Rolf Nordahl's publication list includes over 145 publications, and his Google Scholar profile lists an h-index of 30 and more than 4,200 citations. His publications cover virtual reality, multisensory interaction, user experience, sonic interaction, learning technologies, healthcare technology, and applied digital media technologies.
