Titel: Grid Connection and Integration of Wind Power in Iceland
The thesis investigate the effects of wind power in Iceland and its potential positive influences on the Icelandic transmission grid. It includes an overview of relevant grid codes as well as the transmission grid in its current form and the form it takes in the near future. A model of the grid is implemented in PowerFactory, and the output power of potential wind farms was modelled.
This was done by use of the power curve for a single turbine and from that constructing an aggregated power curve for two different control algorithms. A static analysis of the Icelandic transmission grid was subsequently carried out in which various stability analyses were used to gain an idea of the capabilities of the grid in the areas under investigation. The final part of the project revolves around exploring the different types of wind turbine generators which would be appropriate for Iceland, along with a discussion on the future of the Icelandic grid and the role that wind could potentially play.
