How to apply as a student or a former student
Would you like to change your MSc programme or resume your studies at DTU? Find out whether you should apply for re-enrolment, re-admission, or a change of study programme.
Re-enrolment
You may apply for re-enrolment if you:
- were previously enrolled at DTU
- have completed at least 60 ECTS (equivalent to the first year of study)
- are applying to the same programme
- meet the current admission requirements for the programme
- have been withdrawn for at least five months before the requested study start
- can demonstrate improved ability to complete the programme (if you were previously withdrawn or at risk of withdrawal)
- can be offered a place in the programme (subject to capacity)
You can apply for re-enrolment throughout the year.
To ensure that your application is processed in time for a specific study start, we strongly recommend applying within the standard deadlines:
September intake
- 15 January (non-EU)
- 1 March (EU/EEA)
February intake
- 15 September (non-EU)
- 15 October (EU/EEA)
Applications submitted after these deadlines will still be processed. However, we cannot guarantee processing in time for your intended study start. If this is the case, you will be notified by DTU Study Administration.
- Download and complete the application form
- Send the completed form to mscadmissions@adm.dtu.dk
DTU Study Administration will contact you once your application has been processed.
If you are in conflict with DTU’s study regulations (e.g. failed first-year requirements, used all exam attempts, exceeded maximum study time), you must apply for an exemption.
Process
- Submit your application for re-enrolment
- DTU Study Administration reviews your case and contacts you
- If required, submit an application for exemption
When assessing an exemption, DTU evaluates whether your ability to complete the programme has improved significantly since your previous enrolment. This may include academic, personal, or health-related factors.
If the exemption is approved, your application will proceed.
If the exemption is not approved, your application will be rejected.
