Inaugural Lecture

Inaugural Lecture Leon Mishnaevsky Jr

Professor in Computational Micromechanics of Materials for Wind Energy Applications at the Technical University of Denmark, Leon Mishnaevsky Jr., will be giving his inaugural lecture: "Computational Micromechanics of Materials as a Tool to Ensure Sustainable Wind Energy Development on May 18th.

The inuagural lecture explores how computational micromechanics can be used to analyse and optimize materials in wind energy. It covers leading-edge erosion on turbine blades, composite recycling, microplastic emissions from blade degradation, and repair technologies. By combining microscopy, digital microstructure modelling, and physics‑based simulations, it becomes possible to design more durable and recyclable wind turbine structures.

The lecture will take place at 2 PM on Monday May 18 2026, at Risø Campus, Niels Bohr Auditorium, Building 112.
