2024 Study Start evaluation: "We need to take what we've learnt and build on it."

They came, they took part, they gave DTU their feedback. The new students are done evaluating the Study Start, and the result is good news.

Almost all of the new students took part in this year's Study Start, and in the subsequent mandatory evaluation, they said that meeting their closest fellow students was a particular success. 

At the same time, the students would like to see more activities across study programmes and more contact with even more students in their own study programme. 

"DTU and PF teamed up to organize this year's Study Start, and we made it happen together. Now we need to take what we've learnt and build on it, and we are already planning next year's Study Start," says Dean of Studies and Student Affairs Lars D. Christoffersen.

Most of the new students said they felt welcome and that the organizers helped them with networking. The evaluation also showed that the students liked being told beforehand what to expect at the Study Start.

As a new addition, the programme for the Study Start is now included in the admission letter that new students receive before they start.

Study Start requirements

The result of the Study Start evaluation shows that the Study Start has met the requirements previously defined by DTU and PF. Specifically, the Study Start had to:

  • Be inclusive
  • Focus on being a student, i.e. the transition from pupil to student and being introduced to life at a university
  • Held during the day and on campus
  • Focus on integrating the individual student into their study programme

DTU and PF are currently working on improvements to ensure the 2025 Study Start is even better.
