In DTU's 'studio' in building 202, preparations are being made for another round of StudieInfo. Employees from DTU's Student Recruitment and the students, Annika from Engineering Physics and Adam from General Engineering, are in charge.
Their distinguished task is to tell about DTU and answer questions like: "What does it mean that it's an engineering programme?", "Honestly, is it fun to go to DTU?", "Which subjects do you like the most?" and similar questions about the programmes and student life.
Annika and Adam approach the task with energy and good humour: "It's nice to be involved," says Annika. "I'm also a volunteer during study start, so I'm used to standing up and talking. And I'm really happy with my programme, so it's just great to pass it on." Adam adds: "I remember what it was like to be a sophomore and not know what to do. So, it's great to be able to give them good advice along the way. It meant a lot to me when I had to choose my education."
The first step in the study choice process
It is the second time DTU has participated in StudieInfo, and according to Christina Madvig Christensen from Student Recruitment, it is worth the effort:
"During the 7 days we participate, we are in contact with over a thounsand students at the beginning of their study choice process. We give them a good impression of DTU and a picture of what it means to be a student here," she says and continues: "StudieInfo covers the whole country, so we also become visible in Jutland and Funen. In addition, we have a single event where we meet students from high schools in the Faroe Islands and Greenland."
During April, DTU participates for 7 days in 15 online events. The students who participate are typically volunteers during the study start and/or have participated in Open House, so they are pre-trained in communicating information about DTU.
