Arctic DTU is a cross-cutting initiative that brings together and strengthens DTU’s engagement in the Arctic—within research, education, innovation, and scientific advice.
Now, two new leadership profiles with experience from Greenland will further strengthen DTU’s efforts, especially strategically, where the initiative will be following two tracks: One focusing on developing and operating Campus Sisimiut and one focusing on political and strategic efforts. The two tracks will be closely coordinated.
“We look forward to welcoming Mie Hylstofte Sichlau Winding and Tanja Nielsen, who both bring strong leadership experience. With the new organization of Arctic DTU, we will be able to strengthen and focus our operations as well as the pursuit of our strategic goals for education, research, and innovation. It will strengthen impact, promote innovation and foster collaboration across DTU's Arctic activities," says Carsten Orth Gaarn-Larsen, Senior Vice President responsible for DTU’s presence in the Arctic, including Greenland and the Faroe Islands.
He sees the new organization as a natural continuation of the close cooperation with the Government of Greenland to strengthen the technical and natural science education in Greenland.
Responsibility for strategy and staff
On 1 October, Mie Hylstofte Sichlau Winding joins as Chief Arctic Officer responsible for Arctic DTU’s strategy.
