UN's climate panel, the IPCC, states that the development of technologies must accelerate if global temperature rises are to be kept in check.

About the IPCC report

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the UN body for assessing the science related to climate change

The goal of the IPCC is to provide governments at all levels with scientific information that they can use to develop climate policies. IPCC reports are also an essential input to international climate negotiations.

The IPCC assesses the scientific basis for climate research and points to areas with a robust foundation for drawing conclusions and areas where further research is required. The IPCC does not conduct its own research, and all the researchers' work is unpaid.

The IPCC is divided into three working groups

  • Working group I deals with the scientific basis for climate change.
  • Working Group II deals with climate change's impact, adaptation, and vulnerability.
  • Working Group III deals with the mitigation of climate change.
