Mads Henrik Bang has been employed at DTU since 2013. He comes from a position as area manager in the Department of Economics and Accounting, director of the ØSS Cooperation, and program owner in the New SIS programme. The latter two are DTU-led development collaborations between the Danish universities on joint systems for financial management, HR, e-voting, and student administration.
From here, Mads Henrik Bang has experience in driving strategic change processes within the IT and financial areas and therefore has the best prerequisites to contribute to DTU realizing the possibilities of digitization - also within the administrative area.
As IT director, Mads Henrik Bang will, among other things, be tasked with continuing the work to develop DTU's IT organization with a focus on security and robustness.
He also has experience with digital communication and learning, which DTU benefits from, for example, the development of digital education.
Mads Henrik Bang also comes with broad experience in management, IT, and finance, based on employment in the university world - at DTU and SDU, respectively - and in the private sector. He has held vital IT, HR, and finance positions in several companies, such as Danske Bank and Maersk.
"With the appointment of Mads Henrik Bang, DTU has gained an experienced and professionally versatile leader who can lead the continued development of our large and complex IT organization. With the combination of deep professionalism and practical experience, Mads Henrik Bang is the right person to solve this task," says university director Claus Nielsen.
Mads Henrik Bang starts the job as IT director on 22 February 2023. He replaces former IT director Steen Pedersen, who continues to have a close connection to DTU as an advisor to the IT director and DTU's executive board, mainly focusing on DTU's activities in the area of high-performance computing and the collaboration in DeiC, the national partnership on digital research and teaching infrastructure.
