1 March may have been one of the coldest day this winter, but many potential engineering students nevertheless braved the weather to attend DTU’s Open House event.
It was all go from the start of the day as the young people who arrived before the official opening at 11 a.m. had a chance to watch the DTU ScienceShow. Here they could experience some of the more dramatic aspects of chemistry like both fire and explosions.
When the doors opened, visitors came pouring in, and while some chose to drop by the student accommodation stand first, others threw themselves straight into exploring the many stands where heads of studies and students from some of DTU’s many programmes were ready to answer their questions. And there wasn’t a quiet moment, given all the many creative activities taking place on the stands.
In addition to the study programmes, visitors could also hear more about the possibilities for project work. DTU’s Blue Dot projects were out in force, represented by DTU Roadrunners, DTU Biobuilders, DTU Ecotrophelia and SensUs, which were all there to explain how you can contribute to society through participating in interdisciplinary and project-based courses.
In addition to the wealth of opportunities presented in the Assembley Hall, there were also talks by engineering graduates as well as an introduction to DTU by the Study Guidance.
To provide an insight into the study environment and the individual study programmes, guided tours were organized on both the Lyngby and Ballerup campuses.
Two new study BSc Eng programmes offered by DTU this year—i.e. Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and Design of Sustainable Energy Systems—attracted considerable attention on the day.
When the doors closed at 6 p.m., a quick count showed that no less than 2,300 potential students from all over Denmark had dropped by DTU.
