A new survey by the Confederation of Danish Industry shows a large increase in the number of enterprises rating their cooperation with DTU and other Danish universities either ‘very good’ or ‘good’.
Among Danish universities, DTU has the highest number of cooperation agreements with industry. This is the finding of a new survey from the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI), reflecting a positive development in university-industry cooperation.
DI’s analysis—‘Danmark tilbage på vidensporet IV’ (Denmark back on the knowledge tack IV)—shows that DTU entered into more than 600 agreements in 2016, followed by Aarhus University (AU), and University of Copenhagen (UCPH), while Aalborg University (AAU) with just over 300 agreements came fourth.
“We are pleased that DTU is strongly positioned in its industry cooperation. It is fair to expect DTU—as a technical university—to spearhead the development of new products as well as production optimizations in both newly established and existing enterprises. We are constantly striving to do even better, and in recent years, we have been working to create transparency in our processes by publishing our standards and preparing information material about cooperation agreements,” says Marianne Thellersen, Director for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at DTU.
Two-thirds of the DI survey respondents state that they have experience from cooperating with a university. Also, just under half state that they have worked with two or more other universities in the past. Most of the enterprises rate their cooperation with DTU, AAU, SDU and AU ‘very good’ or ‘good’.
Their rating of the individual universities is up significantly from 2014, where DI conducted a similar survey. While just over 60 per cent of the enterprises rated their cooperation with the universities ‘very good’ or ‘good’ in 2014, the figure was 80 per cent in 2018.
