60 DTU employees to relocate to the UN City on Østerbro in Copenhagen at the beginning of April.
The Danish government has over the years supported the extension of the UN’s presence in Copenhagen, and the UN City in Nordhavn, Østerbro, which opened in 2013, now has more than 1,000 employees from eight different UN organizations. The UNEP Risø Centre, a part of DTU Management Engineering, has been invited to move in at the beginning of April.
UNEP Risø Centre
The UNEP Risø Centre was established in 1990 in a partnership the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark and the then Risø National Laboratory. The centre provides UNEP with research and consultancy services within energy, climate, sustainable development, the most recent initiative being a new energy efficiency programme.
Experiencing rapid development, the centre will have some 60 employees from 15-20 different nationalities when relocating to the new premises.
“We are really looking forward to moving to the new premises and the opportunity for further collaboration between DTU and the UN system,” says Head of Centre John M. Christensen.
DTU is the only Danish university represented in the UN City.
