DTU is among the world’s most innovative universities. DTU is ranked no. 53 in the world, no. 10 in Europe, and no. 1 in the Nordic region on ‘Reuters Top 100 World’s most innovative Universities’ ranking list.
The aim of ‘Reuters Top 100 World’s Most Innovative Universities’ is to rank the educational institutions that “contribute the most to science and technology, and have the greatest impact on the global economy.”
This is the second time that Reuters ranking list of the 100 most innovative universities in the world is being published. DTU (53) and the University of Copenhagen (75) are the only universities in the top 100.
A total of 29 European universities are represented on the list, which is otherwise dominated by American universities such as Stanford, MIT, and Harvard in first, second, and third places, respectively. DTU’s South Korean alliance partner—KAIST—is the highest ranked non-American university on the list, coming in sixth place.
“For many years we have made a concerted effort in the area of innovation and entrepreneurship, and the fact that we are able to maintain our ranking as one of the world’s top 100 innovative universities—and the most innovative university in the Nordic countries—tells me that we are focusing on the right areas,” says Senior Vice President, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at DTU, Marianne Thellersen, who adds:
“Among other things, it is our extensive collaboration with the corporate sector and our work with patents that has secured our ranking on the list. However, there is still room for improvement—we can become better at bringing our patents into play so that new technologies from DTU can help established Danish companies as well as new start-ups to gain international recognition.”
