EU rubber stamps eight MSc programmes

The certification of eight DTU MSc programmes provides students with access to strong networks, fostering creative and innovative entrepreneurship.

DTU swept the board at the end of 2014, when the European Institute of Innovation & Technology announced that all eight of the MSc programmes proposed for what is known as the ‘EIT Label’ fulfilled the requirements. Moreover, the DTU programmes passed the test with flying colours.

The EIT label can be awarded to MSc and PhD programmes that receive a sufficiently high score on four criteria:

1. comprehensive teaching in entrepreneurship
2. integrated and innovative ‘learning by doing’
3. international and organizational mobility in European and global contexts
4. comparable and merit-based admission requirements.

The recognition from EIT clearly signals that students who complete the programmes have special prerequisites for creative and innovative entrepreneurship.

Networking and collaboration
“The certification of the eight MSc programmes provides the students with unique opportunities for building up networks and working closely with companies. This is of particular interest in the context of the current study progress reform, because the students will have the chance to complete projects as a part of their courses, while simultaneously earning ECTS credits,” explains Martin Bendsøe, Senior Vice President and Dean of Graduate Studies and International Affairs.

The European Institute of Innovation & Technology is an independent EU body that was set up in 2008 with the objective of promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in Europe. EIT brings leading education institutions, research laboratories and companies together to create what are known as Knowledge and Information Communities (KIC). DTU is home to one of these—Climate-KIC Nordic—which was opened on 7 February 2014.
