Sustainability, diversity, and internationalization
DTU has decided to appoint a new dean who will be responsible for sustainability, diversity, inclusion, and talent development as well as DTU’s international strategic collaboration.
DTU’s purpose is to conduct research and provide education at the highest international level to the benefit of society. This task entails promoting diversity and inclusion across all levels of the organization with the aim of bringing all talents into play. The goal is a diverse group of students and staff and for DTU to be considered a university that welcomes anyone who is willing and able.
DTU also wants to be leading in research and development of sustainable solutions that create value and enable a better life for people. In order to maintain this position, it is necessary to develop and maintain strong international partnerships in relation to research collaboration as well as new strategic foundation grants.
DTU’s campuses constitute an important framework for the University’s activities and also function as living laboratories for the development of sustainable solutions within construction, energy, and waste management.
By consolidating the responsibility for diversity, internationalization, and sustainable campus development with a new dean, DTU aims to strengthen the University’s growth as an attractive and diverse partner and workplace.
Europe’s best engineering programmes
DTU has a leading role in the development of the engineering profession through the development of new part-time MSc programmes and digital engineering programmes as well as in the establishment of study programmes all over the country.
Every year, more than 3,000 engineers graduate from DTU. These engineers leave the University with a solid academic competency, commitment, and an innovative approach to problem-solving. However, like all of society, DTU is looking at a future of fierce competition for students.
In order to strengthen DTU’s position in the competition, the responsibility for DTU’s study programmes and learning environment will lie with Dean Lars D. Christoffersen going forward.
These changes mean that Philip Binning, Dean of Graduate Studies and International Affairs, will no longer be part of the Executive Board. Philip Binning has been part of DTU for 20 years, first as a researcher, popular lecturer, and head of studies at the department now known as DTU Sustain and then as Dean since 1 January 2017. In connection with the impending changes, Philip Binning has decided to explore work opportunities outside DTU. DTU would like to thank Philip Binning for his valuable contribution as Dean.
There will be a reception later this year where colleagues and business partners will have the opportunity to say thank you and farewell.
Until the new changes to the Executive Board come into effect, Dean Lars D. Christoffersen will handle all matters relating to study programmes, and Executive Vice President Rasmus Larsen will handle the PhD area and international affairs.
