100% renewable energy possible with existing technology

There is enough renewable energy, and we have the technology to harvest it. The challenge is how to connect the technologies and distribute the energy when needed. We do not require a new miracle technology that can produce energy for us.

There is no need for a new miracle technology. We already have the technology needed to deliver 100% renewable energy, says Gregor Giebel.

Facts

Dr. Gregor Giebel has worked for more than 27 years with, for example, short-term forecasts for wind power, large-scale integration of wind power into the electricity grid, and power management of wind turbines at DTU, which is a leader in research into onshore and offshore wind energy and hybrid energy systems.

He heads several collaboration projects, including the NEST Facilities research infrastructure, and most recently also DTEC (DTU-TotalEnergies Excellence Centre for Clean Energy), a joint project between DTU and TotalEnergies. In this connection, DTU Wind is constructing a pilot hybrid power plant at DTU Risø Campus, which will, among other activities, test the interaction and opportunities of wind and solar energy from the same field.

You can learn more about the NEST facilities at the upcoming workshop on 11 June in Aarhus. Participation is free. Register here
