The purpose of establishing the Partnership for Global Development is to ensure that Danish development policy involves a broader range of institutions and companies, thereby placing the policy on a wider and stronger foundation.
In addition, the forum will contribute to coordinating foreign-, security-, and trade policy and translate the government’s new development strategy into concrete action. Anders Bjarklev says he is looking forward to contributing to the new forum:
“As a representative of an internationally oriented university with a strong focus on developing technology and solutions that benefit people in concrete ways, I am delighted to be invited to participate in the important work of Denmark’s development policy.”
Alongside Anders Bjarklev, the forum includes DR’s Director General, Bjarne Corydon, CEO of the Danish Chamber of Commerce, Brian Mikkelsen, and Secretary General of Save the Children, Johanne Schmidt-Nielsen.
Representatives from a broad cross-section of Danish organizations and businesses will contribute to implementing the new development strategy. And it is obvious that universities will also play a role, says Anders Bjarklev:
“I look forward to bringing our research, ideas, and technological expertise into play and contributing with concrete solutions and new perspectives. Innovation and research play a crucial role in Denmark’s global development efforts.”
The initiative is part of the implementation of the government’s strategy of development cooperation from June 2025 and is supplemented by an External Expert Panel, which will ensure early in the process that new development grants are of high professional quality.
