Rico Krueger is an Assistant Professor in the Intelligent Transportation Systems Section within the Division for Transportation Science at the Department of Technology, Management and Economics at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). His research lies at the intersection of machine learning, simulation, and behavioural modelling, focussing on the planning, management, and enhancement of intelligent, human-centric and sustainable mobility systems. Central to his work is the development and application of advanced mathematical models, algorithms, and data collection technologies—such as immersive virtual reality—to better understand and predict human behaviour and decision-making in the context of transport and mobility. He places particular emphasis on emerging transportation technologies. His research has wide-ranging applications, including travel demand forecasting, multimodal transportation systems, mobility-on-demand, sustainability, and health and well-being. Before joining DTU, Rico was a postdoctoral researcher at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland. He earned his PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from UNSW Australia. Rico is also an editorial board member of Transportation Research Part A: Policy and Practice.
