My laboratory applies systems biology approaches to investigate
microbe-microbe and host-microbe interactions with the aim of
improving our ability to exploit and manipulate microbial
communities in relation to management and use of biological
resources as well as infectious disease control.
Specific research areas include:
* Investigations of bacterial pathogens in relation to chronic
infections in humans
* Identification of the molecular mechanisms that underlie
microbial adaptation, evolution and survival in dynamic,
antibiotic-rich environments.
* Exploring the feedback between microbial interactions and
evolution within complex microbial communities.
My laboratory develops and applies a range of bacterial genetics
and genomics based methods – including high-throughput genome
sequencing - as well as systems biology data analysis tools.
