Professor emeritus in hydrology and water resources. MSc in 1969, PhD in 1973 and dr. techn. in 1993. Head of Department of Hydrodynamics and Water Resources 1978-1989 and head of Groundwater Research Centre 1989-2001. Editor of Nordic Hydrology 1986-2011 (in 2008 renamed to Hydrology Research). President of the water resources commission under the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS) 2001-2005, vice president of IAHS 2007-2011 and honorary president of IAHS 2019-2023. Research interests: Hydrological modelling and parameterization at different scales, extreme value assessment and uncertainty, climate change impact and sustainability of water systems, socio-economic analysis.
