Ph.d.-forsvar ved Mejse Hasle, DTU Engineering Technology

Mejse Hasle forsvarer sin ph.d.-afhandling, “Manager-Employee Relationships in the Hybrid Workplace – Line Managers’ Experiences of Emerging Challenges and Responsibilities".

Mejse Hasle will defend her PhD Thesis 'Manager-Employee Relationships in the Hybrid Workplace – Line Managers’ Experiences of Emerging Challenges and Responsibilities Wednesday' 11 June at 2 pm Glass Hall, entrance 19, room P1.06 DTU Ballerup Campus.

Hybrid work - where employees divide their time between the office and remote locations - has become a defining feature of many modern workplaces.

In her thesis, Mejse Hasle examines how the implementation of hybrid work impacts the manager-employee relationship, with a specific focus on line managers who are responsible for overseeing daily operations and supporting employee well-being and performance in a hybrid work context. The thesis contributes to existing research by shedding light on the evolving roles and responsibilities of line managers as hybrid work gradually becomes the new normal. It also provides in-depth insights into the relational dynamics of the changing social exchange relationships between line managers and their employees, emphasizing the critical role that daily interactions play in determining the successful implementation and sustainability of hybrid work.

This PhD research offers practical recommendations for organizations seeking to strengthen manager-employee relationships, enhance trust and fairness in hybrid workplaces, and better support line managers as they navigate the complexities of this working model.

The PhD scholarship was supported by the Danish trade union HK Kommunal.
