On DTU’s Industry Master's programme in Biomanufacturing, you will gain a deeper understanding of research through close collaboration with industry.

The programme alternates between teaching modules lasting three to five weeks and work placements in the biotech sector.

During these modules, you will delve into the subject matter and specialize in the topics you work with on a daily basis.

You will become part of a small group, where you will share a passion for biotechnology from the outset.

Together, you will be taught by leading DTU researchers, while putting theory into practice through group and project work.

Student life in Kalundborg

Kalundborg is a hub for biotechnology, attracting people from all over the world. This means that you will be part of an international environment, both academically and socially.

If you would like to meet others who work or study in the town, you could take part in events organized by Kalundborg Connect, a voluntary association that organizes activities ranging from pub quizzes to reggaeton parties.

In 2026, the town will get a new youth centre. It will serve as a meeting place for students, where you can study with your study group or meet others over board games or music.

As a student in Kalundborg, you will be surrounded by sports and leisure activities. If you enjoy adrenaline-filled activities, you can play padel tennis, basketball, volleyball, or BMX. If you prefer a slower pace, you can take a walk in the forest or go for a swim in the sea. And if you feel like visiting a larger city, Copenhagen is only an hour and a half away.

For Master’s students

Helix Lab – research in collaboration with industry

Master's students from DTU who are not studying Biomanufacturing can spend their weekdays in Kalundborg by joining the Helix Lab education and research centre as Fellows.

With a Helix Lab Fellowship, you will have the opportunity to write your master's thesis in collaboration with a biotech company in Kalundborg. You will also participate in a fellowship programme alongside master's students from other universities, giving you the chance to research new solutions for industry with the help of the latest technology and international researchers.

Helix Lab opened its doors in 2022 and is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories focusing on robotics and prototyping, among other things.
