Applying for an MSc at DTU - Required documents

The academic level of our MSc Eng Programmes is highly advanced. To study at DTU, it is a requirement that you have a deep knowledge of engineering or science disciplines related to the MSc Eng programme you wish to apply for. These required documents apply to all applicants with a bachelor's degree acquired outside Denmark.

Important Information for Applicants

To help you prepare a strong application, here’s what you need to know about DTU's admission process from Autumn 2026 onwards:

  • DTU now uses a point-based system and selection criteria to evaluate applications.
  • Before you start, make sure you understand the process for your chosen programme. You can find these details under Programme specifications → Academic Requirements → Limited Intake and Selection Criteria.

 

How to Ensure a Smooth Application Process

To make sure your application is assessed fairly and without delays, please follow these steps:

✅ Understand the selection criteria for your programme.

✅ Review all document requirements before you begin.

✅ Upload the required document accurately and completely when you submit your application.

⚠️ Incomplete or incorrect submissions may affect your assessment.

💡 Tip: Preparing your documents in advance will help you submit a strong and complete application.

 

Checklist: Required Documents

  1. Bachelor Academic Documents
    • Completed Bachelor: Certified Diploma + Certified Academic Transcripts (officially translated into English either from the University or from an authorized translator)
    • Ongoing Bachelor: Certified Academic Transcripts (officially translated into English either from the University or from an authorized translator)
  2. GPA translation document (if not explained on the transcript)
  3. CV / Resume
  4. DTU’s Mandatory Template – Fill it completely and accurately.
  5. Course Descriptions for relevant courses
    • Provide an official online link in the template (if in English) OR
    • Submit the official online link + English translation (you can translate it yourself) in a single PDF.
  6. Two Recommendation Letters – Only for Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Design & Innovation, Engineering Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, Sustainable Energy Technologies
  7. Language Test Results

 

Optional Documents, if applicable (can positively influence your application)

  1. Study-related work experience (single PDF)
  2. Research, internship, or publications (single PDF)
  3. GRE Test Scores
    • No minimum requirement, but competitive scores are:
    • 320 combined (Verbal + Quantitative)
    • 4.0 in Analytical Writing
